Alert karachiites! Three people died of brain-eating amoeba in 2019

Three people died from brain-eating amoeba in 2019 in Karachi. Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui, resident of Liaqtabad, Anas 21-year old from Orangi Town and Rasheed Shah 44-years-old man from Kharadar area lost their lives from dangerous infection.

Take care when sniffing water into the nose during bathing, swimming, wudu/ablution. So far three people in Karachi became victim of brain-eating amoeba, as reported in a private hospital of Karachi. Amoeba also known as Naegleria fowleri is threat for karachiites for few years.

Naegleria fatal infection travels up the nose to the brain via the olfactory nerve. Naegleria infection results in brain inflammation and damage of brain tissue, its so quick that people could not survive for more than a week. The symptoms appear in patient are fever, severe pain in head, Seizures, confusion, change in sense of smell and taste and others.

Amoeba exists in warm freshwaters; simply avoid tap water sniffing into the nose. Use boiled water while cleaning nose/Ghusl. Government should control this infection with proper chlorination.
