Hernia

A protrusion of an organ that pushes through an opening in the muscle or tissue that holds it in place. For example breakage of intestine through a thinner or weakened abdominal wall. The defect is responsible behind the bulging of the abdominal wall. This bulging is more noticeable when abdominal muscles are tightened.
The most common Hernia occurs in the abdomen but it can also occur in the navel, groin areas. There are several types of Hernia including;

Inguinal Hernia: The most common type of hernia that appears in the lower abdomen region

Femorial Hernia: The uncommon type of hernia that appears in the inner upper part of the groin

Incisional Hernia: It can only appear after abdominal surgery

Umbilical Hernia: It can appear around navel or belly button

Epigastric Hernia: It can occur in the upper and central part of the abdomen and usually appears in adults

Hiatal Hernia: It appears on the upper part of the stomach.

According to the study, the most common hernia in Pakistan is inguinal hernia.
