Prolonged workplace stress is now classified as a disease by WHO
The World Health Organization (WHO) classifies burnout as a disease. Burn out is chronic job stress which affects person emotionally, physically and mentally. Constant work place stress result in hopelessness, lack of motivation and can interfere in your productivity.
According to WHO, this occupational-related condition, burn out is caused when chronic workplace stress is not managed successfully.
According to the WHO, burnout patient have these three symptoms:
• Exhaustion and lack of energy
• Hopeless about one’s job
• Decline in professional efficiency and productivity
Let’s talk about Pakistan, where public health is not an important concern for government and there are many unsolved health related issues, such classification will not be considered important. According to another survey 80 per cent people are not happy with their job. Most of the people want to shift from current job. The scenario in Pakistan is quite same and it is not easy to get job because of high unemployment rate.
However there are ways and guidelines for coping with burn out.
